Jack D. Washington, 81, of Goshen, died Monday evening, June 14, 2010 at his home. He was born July 1, 1928 to the late Harold and Blanche E. (Murphy) Washington in Ligonier. On June 13, 1953, he married Helen I. Knitter in Cadott, Wisconsin. She survives.   Also surviving are daughters, Cheryl (Bill Rankinen) Spero of Conneaut, Ohio, and Karen (Skip) Boyer of Goshen; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gordon Washington of Greensboro, North Carolina. He was preceded by a brother, George Washington. Mr. Washington was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Goshen FOP and VFW. He received the National Aide DeCamp of the VFW. He was former manager at Ivy Terrace. He retired from the Elkhart County Highway Department as a supervisor. He had many hobbies including, photography, mushroom hunting, woodworking, golfing and fishing. He loved and enjoyed his grandkids. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Friday, June 18, at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 am Saturday, June 19, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastors John Hickey and Jason Kincaid will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
