J Lee Seely

September 15, 1926 — September 23, 2008

J. Lee Seely, 82, of Goshen, died early Tuesday afternoon, September 23, 2008 at The Maples where he had been admitted September 4. He was born in Elkhart on September 15, 1926, to William Lee and Grace (Penn) Seely.  He married Kathleen Stroup on March 7, 1948, in Millersburg.  She survives. Mr. Seely worked as a carpenter for DJ Construction and as head of building maintenance for Starcraft until his retirement.  He served in Hawaii during World War II. He was a member of Zion Community Church and Legion #484 in Millersburg.  He was a die hard Cubs and Indiana University basketball fan. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Julie Fisher and Jane (Jim) Yoder, both of Goshen; two granddaughters, Erin (Nick) McClintock of Lusby, Maryland, and Jamie Yoder of Indianapolis; a grandson, Jordan Yoder of Durham, North Carolina, a great-grandson, Liam McClintock of Lusby, Maryland; and a sister, Eunice Reed of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Adrian Munro Fisher and Leigh Seely Fisher; and two sisters, Lelah Roth and Mildred Ulery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 26, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Zion Community Church, Millersburg.  Pastor Bob Doane will officiate. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery where military honors will be given. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Elkhart County or Zion Community Church.
