J. Jean Morris, 84, of Goshen, died at her home early Thursday morning, August 6, 2015. She was born March 19, 1931 in Springfield, Ill. to John Thomas and Goldia Mae (Davis) Nelson. Mrs. Morris met Robert "Bob" J. Morris at Decatur High School in 1948 and they were married June 1, 1952 in Springfield. He survives along with four children, R. Thomas (Sandi) Morris of Bristol, Deborah (Reid) Heinekamp of Sandwich, Illinois, Charles A. (Theresa) Morris of Elkhart and Sandra Jean (David) Gould of Rockford, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dianna Kelley of Springfield, Illinois and Margaret "Peggy" Strode of Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, Ian "Sandy" (Virginia) Nelson of Rochester, Illinois and Alexander T. (Betty) Nelson of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. Mrs. Morris graduated from Decatur High School in 1950 and attended Northern Illinois University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Goshen where she was an active member of the Gathering Committee. She led a Bible study at Greencroft for 14 years and was an adult literacy teacher at Goshen Public Library. She was a co-owner of Medallion Plastics with her son and husband from 1976 to 1993. Friends may call Monday, August 10, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior the 10 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday at the church. Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Primetimers at First United Methodist Church.
