Ivan R. Rheinheimer, 86, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formerly of Goshen, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at his home. He was born December 25, 1927 in York Township, Elkhart County, to Clayton and Maude M. (Miller) Rheinheimer. On May 7, 1948 he married Audra F. Tope in Goshen. She died March 4, 1985. He later married Evelyn (Harrast) Danek in Arizona on April 11, 1987. She survives along with a daughter, Brenda (Dan) Bowers of Middlebury; a son, I. Brent (Jane) Rheinheimer of Goshen; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-children; Barbara (Reed) Coy, Bonnie (Jim) Stark and Charles Frances Danek, III, 7 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren. A sister, Esther (Floyd) Hoover of Goshen; and a brother, Ernest Rheinheimer of New Paris. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Audra; two sisters, Lois Blosser and Pauline Schrock; and four brothers, Al, John, Maynard and Floyd Rheinheimer. A U.S. Army Veteran, Mr. Rheinheimer worked as a signal maintainer in the Goshen-Toledo Division for Conrail Railroad for 31 years. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 985 and American Legion Post 484, also a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman Local 10 for 35 years. He was very active in the community with The Boy Scouts of America for 29 years, receiving the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow and in 1970 received The Silver Beaver Award, the Highest Award given by the Boy Scouts of America to a volunteer. Friends may call Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., funeral service on Wednesday, October 22, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hess Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to Boy Scouts of America.
