Ivan L. Fissgus, 95, of Goshen died Thursday evening, September 4, 2008 at Goshen General Hospital. He was born in Goshen on May 17, 1913, to Irvin and Susie (Plank) Fissgus. He married Bertha Stahly on September 15, 1934 in Goshen. She died May 5, 2000. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Fissgus was a trailer factory worker. He was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren; Goshen D.A.V. Post #15; a life member of Goshen V.F.W. Post #985; a member of the Goshen Moose; past member of the American Legion Post #30 and past member of the Goshen Eagles. He was a World War II Army veteran and was wounded in the Battle of the Buldge. He is survived by two sons, Roy Fissgus of Goshen and Jerry (Aree) Fissgus of Anaheim, California, five grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha and three sisters, Lois Sala, Goldie Straw and Viola Fissgus. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, September 7 at the funeral home. A 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Roy Stern of Goshen City Church of the Brethren will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Goshen City Church of the Brethren.
