Isabel E. Pestow

Isabel E. Pestow, 82, of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, July 6, 2008, at The Courtyard Healthcare where she had been admitted on May 22, 2008. She was born in Valparaiso, Indiana, on May 1, 1926, to William C. and Ethel (Bull) Ruge.  She married Bernard Pestow on December 28, 1946 in Goshen at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  He survives Mrs. Pestow graduated from Goshen High School in 1944.  A homemaker, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.  A Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan, she enjoyed playing bridge and knitting for others. She is survived by her husband, Bernard; two daughters, Miriam J. (Timon) Kendall of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Sarah P. (Rob) Roeder of Goshen; two sons, Carl W. (Connie) Pestow and Benjamin (Tina) Pestow, both of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Martha May Etchason and a brother, Donald Ruge, both of Chesterton, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Pestow; three brothers, Richard, Byron and William Ruge; and two sisters, Dorothy Gilmore and Ethel Ann Curtis. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the mass on Thursday at the church. A 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Rosary Service will be conducted at the funeral home. The Thursday, July 10, 2008, funeral mass is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Father Christopher Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John’s Rosary Society or American Cancer Society.
