Irene J. Weirich, 101, of Goshen, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born August 23, 1915 in Shipshewana to Fred and Bessie (Howard) Allison.
On June 23, 1934 she married Alvin Weirich in Howe. He died September 11, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, David (Joyce) Weirich of Chesterfield, Michigan, and Denis (Carol) Weirich of Grand Haven, Michigan; a son-in-law, Terry Yoder of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Yoder; two sisters, Evangeline Troyer and June Nelson; and a brother, Edmond Allison.
Irene owned and operated Irene’s Café in Shipshewana for 17 years and also worked at Yoder’s Department Store. She was a member of Berea Missionary Church while living in Shipshewana and attended First Baptist Church after moving to Goshen.
She enjoyed reading and sewing.
Friends may call Saturday, May 27, 2017 one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft, 1225 Greencroft Dr., Goshen. Rev. Dr. Gregg Lanzen, First Baptist Church, Goshen, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
