Irene I. Riegsecker, 90, passed away March 19, 2015 at her home in Goshen. She was born to William and Anna (Schwartzentruber) Neuhauser on Feb. 20, 1925 in Pigeon, Michigan. On Aug. 23, 1969, she married Levi Riegsecker in Flint, Michigan. He died August 24, 1971. She is survived by her sister, Vera Kindy of Midland, Michigan; 8 nieces and nephews, Carol (Tom) Veatch, of Wichita, Kansas, Rose (Ken) Vasquez, of Chino, California, Melody Carlock, of Ft. Wayne, James (Shelly) Kindy, Jerry (Dawn) Kindy, Kevin (Kathy Jo) Kindy, all of Midland, Michigan, Joseph (Patricia M.) Baer, of Alden, New York, and David (Patricia A.) Baer, of Goshen; 26 great-nieces and great-nephews and 13 great great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She is also survived by four step-children, Joyce (Vernon) Craven-Themm, of Middlebury, Keith Riegsecker, Goshen, Verl (Pat) Riegsecker, of Indianapolis, and Dennis (Jean) Riegsecker, of Lincoln, Nebraska; 14 step-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Levi, a brother, John Neuhauser, a sister, Catherine Baer, and nieces Joyce Miller and Twila Baer. Step-sons Marvin and Orval Riegsecker, and step-granddaughter, Janelle Craven also preceded her. Irene was a member of College Mennonite Church. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked in Flint, Michigan for many years. She was a lifelong member of Mennonite churches in Flint, Sarasota, Florida and Goshen. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews and played an active role throughout their lives. She loved meeting new people and enjoyed traveling. She opened her home to many including 1-W workers in Flint. Until her death, she was active and had many weekly times that she gathered with friends to play various games and socialize. She will be missed by many. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 in the Koinonia Room of College Mennonite Church, Goshen where a memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. According to Irene's wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bible Memory Ministries or Christian Aid Ministries.
