Irene Nymeyer

Clara “Irene” Nymeyer, 94, of Goshen, died peacefully, Friday, August 13, 2021 at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born July 29, 1927 in Elkhart and raised by her adoptive parents, Charles and Nellie Thomas.

She married Frederick Nymeyer on June 22, 1947 in Goshen.  He died April 24, 1984.

Survivors include three children, Elizabeth (Garry) Howell of Elkhart, Joyce (Scott) Graybill of Bremen and Fred Nymeyer of Hot Springs, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Hills of Milford, Joseph (Sarah) Hills of Midland, Michigan, Wayne Howell of Elkhart, Lauren (Tim) Phipps of Bremen and Spencer (Lauren) Graybill of South Bend and nine great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six siblings and one grandchild.

Irene graduated from Goshen High School in 1945.  She was a member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren and the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary.

A graveside memorial service will be held at West Goshen Cemetery on Thursday, August 26 at 10:30 AM.  Pastor Evan Garber, Bremen Church of the Brethren, will officiate.
