Irene Culp, 86, of Goshen died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born April 22, 1923 in LaGrange County to Samuel and Mattie (Hershberger) Hostetler. On August 20, 1944, in Goshen, she married Millard Culp. He died June 1, 1996. She and her husband lived in Tiskawa, Ill. for a short time and then moved back to Elkhart County. Irene was a nurse’s aid in the maternity ward at Goshen General Hospital for approximately 20 years. She was a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church and a Youth Group leader for many years directing them in church plays. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels at Greencroft Senior Center. She was an avid basketball fan and Cubs fan. She is survived by three sons, Robert (Martha) Culp, Elkhart, Kenneth (Kathy) Culp and Michael (Rita) Culp both, Goshen, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three brothers, Jake and Sam Hostetler, Goshen and Leroy (Carolyn) Hostetler, Middlebury. Irene was preceded by five brothers, Monroe, John, Bill, Dan and Harley Hostetler; and two sisters, Katie Hostetler and Mary Leedy. Family will receive friends on Sunday 1-5 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A Monday, March 29, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Russ Hunsberger of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greencroft Foundation or Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church.
