Ira L. Hartman, 96, of Goshen, died Friday, October 27, 2017at Goshen Hospital.
He was born October 12, 1921 in Elkhart County to Abram and Ada (Hoover) Hartman.
On September 11, 1943 he married Ruby Newcomer in Goshen. She died December 24, 2004. On December 15, 2006 he married Esther (Snyder) Metzler at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.
She survives along with four children, Kathy (Clarence) Stoltzfus of Goshen, Loren (Marty) Hartman of Canby, Oregon and Terry (Dianne) Hartman and Kevin (Sherry) Hartman, both of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-children, Sharon (Larry) Erb of Benton, Pat Stahly of Goshen, Don (Nancy) Metzler of Angola and Margaret Wenger of Elkhart; and a sister, Doris Reinhardt of Goshen.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vesta Weaver and three brothers, Lowell, Lester and Paul Hartman.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Hartman owned Hartman Brothers Feed Mill in Wakarusa for 20 years and then worked as a cabinet maker for Holiday Rambler for another 20 years.
Friends may call Monday, October 30, 2017 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Tuesday funeral service. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate.
Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the church.
