Imogene M. Ellis

Imogene “Jean” M. Ellis, 81, of New Paris, died early Thursday morning, August 18, 2010, at Riverside Village, Elkhart, after an extended illness with Alzheimer’s. She was born March 14, 1929 in Bluford, Illinois to the late Roy Lee and Lenora Howard Lane.  She married James W. Ellis in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, on March 13, 1948. He survives. Also surviving are a son, James (Debora) Ellis, Jr., of New Paris; four grandchildren, Angela (Lenny) Krebs, of Goshen, Amy (Tyler) McCart, of Columbia, South Carolina, Kimberly (Kevin) Bestul of  Syracuse, and James W. Ellis,III, of North Hollywood, California; six great-grandchildren; and  two sisters, Wanda Kirkpatrick of Genoa, Illinois, and Lovell Mills of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Ellis, and a brother, Clarence Maynard. A 1947 graduate of Bluford High School, she attended Indiana State University, and worked for 13 years as an account supervisor at Smoker-Craft in New Paris. She and her husband attended Nappanee Missionary Church. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Friday, August 20, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010. Rev. Lenny Krebs of Benton Free Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at New Paris Cemetery, New Paris. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Nappanee Missionary Church.
