Howard L. Wenger, 81, of Millersburg, passed away Thursday morning, November 20, 2014, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing where he had been since October 24. He had been in failing health the last five years. He was born January 18, 1933 in Harrison Township, Elkhart County to Jacob and Addie (Herr) Wenger. On June 19, 1955 he married Jane A. Huber in Goshen at her parents' home. She survives along with two sons, Rick (Chris) Wenger of Wolcottville and Lon (Cathy) Wenger of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Bobbi Pettigrew, Jeff (Michelle) Wenger, Carrie (Andrew) Hilty and Kyle Wenger; and two great-grandchildren with another due in December. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irene Wenger; two infant brothers, Gerald and Bobby Wenger and a great-granddaughter, Savanna Pettigrew. A 1951 graduate of Topeka High School, Mr. Wenger served in Korea with the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He worked as a group leader at Johnson Controls for more than 50 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the New Paris Church of the Brethren and a former member of the Syracuse Church of the Brethren. Friends may call Sunday, November 23, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, November 24, at the New Paris Church of the Brethren. Pastor Stan Godfrey will officiate. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg. Memorial contributions may be given to Heifer International.
