Howard Junior Heeter

November 15, 1927 — August 10, 2013

Howard Jr. Heeter, 85, of Goshen, went to be with the love of his life in heaven, very unexpectedly Saturday night, August 10, 2013, at his home. He was born November 15, 1927 in Goshen, to Milo and Alma (Juday) Heeter. On February 28, 1947, in Goshen, he married Nancy R. Voorhees. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2002. Jr. is survived by a daughter, Leslie (Raymond) Dort of Marysville, Ohio; two sons, Stephen M. (Shauna) and Bradley A., both of Goshen; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and two beloved cats, Greta and Pearl. He was preceded in death by his parents; his lovely wife, Nancy; a brother, Dallas Heeter; and two sisters, Virginia Cripe and Doris Lewallen. Jr. was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Goshen High School in 1947. He worked at the hydro-electric plants, and retired from NIPSCO. He was a long time member of Plymouth United Church of Christ. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013, funeral will be held. Burial will follow at Violett cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
