Hilda E. Holtzinger

Hilda E. Holtzinger, 94, of Goshen, died Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2011, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Starkweather, North Dakota on October 19, 1916, to the late William H. and Minnie M. (Ringler) Rhoads.  She married Kenneth J.D. Cripe on April 21, 1935 in Elkhart.  He died June 1954.  She then married Joseph A. Holtzinger on May 26, 1956.  He died September. 29, 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Colver of Goshen; two sons, Steven R. (Anne Myers) Cripe of North Manchester, and Kenneth D. Cripe of Van Wert, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Rhoads of Bradenton, Florida. She was preceded in death by an infant son, a step-daughter, Marilyn Losee, two half-brothers, Austin and Fred Hostetler; and two half sisters, Elsie Cripe and Bessie Young. A homemaker and longtime area resident, Mrs. Holtzinger worked at Miles for 20 years.  She was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren and participated in prison ministry for years. Friends may call 1:30-2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the Gathering Place at Evergreen at Greencroft, where a 2:30 p.m. memorial service will be conducted.  Pastor Bev Weaver will officiate. Her body has been donated to IU Medicine.  Burial will be at a later date at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen City Church of the Brethren or Dismas of Michiana.
