Herman was united in marriage to Cathy Bontarger January 27, 1996, in Waco, Texas. Together, they shared many cherished years of marriage and built a loving family.

Herman was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. His family was the center of his life, and he treasured the time they spent together. He loved to watch his children play sports and his daughter dance competitively. His favorite pastimes were watching the Denver Broncos and Chicago Cubs. Herman also took great pride in taking care of his lawn at home. He will be lovingly remembered for the place he held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish Herman's memory are his beloved wife, Cathy Taylor, Elkhart; his children, Braedon (Kendyl Roller) Taylor, Tampa, Florida, and Shelby Taylor, Elkhart; his stepsiblings, Rich Smith II, Elkhart, IN, Melissa Smith, Mishawaka, IN, and Kristine Hartman, Elkhart, IN; his sisters, Natasha (David) Ridley, Pueblo, Colorado, and Amanda Ralston, also of Pueblo, Colorado; and his mother in law whom he shared a special relationship with, Phyllis Hart of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Those who knew Herman will remember him not only for the work he accomplished, but for the love he gave to his family and the memories he created with those closest to him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his wife, children, siblings, extended family, and friends.

His family finds comfort in knowing that the love Herman shared throughout his life will remain with them always.
