Goshen - Henry Mast, born on April 28th, 1933, died November 16, 2020. He had been a resident of The Courtyard Healthcare Center since August, 2020.
A member of Waterford Mennonite church he was a faithful participant, serving the congregation generously. He particularly loved his Sunday School class and small group, enjoying conversation and always interested in the lives of others.
A hard worker, Henry was employed by various companies including Weyerhouser and Starcraft. He completed his career working for Starcraft for 30 years as a plant manager in Emma, Indiana.
Henry’s hobby was fixing sewing machines, a skill he learned on his own and continued to practice during his retirement years. He was known to carry his sewing machine repair kit with him and was willing to help others in any way he could. Even in his last days he enjoyed a conversation about Singer sewing machines.
Other hobbies Henry enjoyed include fishing---he always had a well-stocked freezer full of bluegill---- and cooking his own “Hank’s chili”. Henry loved an adventure and a highlight during his last years was a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon during a family vacation to Arizona.
He loved being with people and will be remembered as a kind and generous friend.
Henry, the third youngest of twelve children, was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia and Levi Mast, his wife of 62 years, Fanny E. Mast, a daughter Rebecca, a great-grandson Jace, and his siblings, Andrew, Barbara, Daniel, Samuel, Moses, Amos, Ada, John, and Elmer.
Henry was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed listening to gospel quartets and spirituals and was always particularly moved when listening to his grandchildren singing.
He leaves behind an extended family, a rich legacy of great grandchildren, grandchildren, children, nieces and nephews including – Roy Mast (Sherry) , Barb Schlegel (Dallas), Grace Carpenter (Bob), Jo Taylor (Kirk), Fred Mast (Linda), John Mast (Lois), and Kay Bigler.
Family will gather for a private graveside service at Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen.
