Henry Frank Burmeister was born May 27, 1929 at home in Los Angeles, California to Adolph and Jessie (Criss) Burmeister. Henry served in MCC Voluntary Service from 1953-1955 as a Counselor with the Department of Public Welfare in Washington D.C. where he worked with boys ages 7 to 14. It was during this time he met Ruth.
Henry married Ruth Brubacher on Sept. 5, 1954. They were married 70 loving years. He attended both Long Beach City College and Cal State University, L.A.; graduating with a Sociology Degree in 1975. He was a Machinist for Pioneer Motor Gearing, Excel Weld, Mack Trucks and Peterbuilt.
Henry was a loving husband and father who cared deeply about his family. He cherished them and was a respectful gentleman who thought about others and tried to make their lives better. He enjoyed wood-working: refinishing and building furniture, taking photographs of his family and friends, and gardening. He attended Calvary Mennonite church in Los Angeles for many years. He was always active in church serving on various boards, teaching classes and actively participating at the local churches Ruth and he attended. Henry loved to make people smile and lived an honorable life loving and serving God and others.
Three daughters survive him: Rebecca (Louis) Robles, Sharon (Bruce) Munn, and Cynthia (Rory) Comstock; five grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his wife Ruth, his brother George Burmeister, half-sister Helen Radcliff and son-in-law Louis Robles.
A visitation will take place Friday, March 7, 2025 from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. until the 12 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Anthony Cottrell will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.
