Henry B. Yoder, 91, of New Paris, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning, June 30, 2013, at Greencroft Goshen Healthcare. He was born December 23, 1921 in Fairview, Michigan, to Joe B. and Hannah (Swartz) Yoder. On December 4, 1949, in Fairview, he married Sarah Troyer. She survives along with two daughters, Kathleen (Paul) Newcomer, of Toto, and Sarie (Ken) Miller, of New Paris; a son, Carl (Marcie) Yoder, of Roanoke, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Ken Sutter, of Clarksville, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Sutter, a great-grandson, Ryder; five brothers, Jake, Joe, Omer, Ed, and Raymond Yoder; and a sister, Katie Eash. Mr. Yoder served in Civilian Public Service for three and a half years in Ind., Ohio, and Montana. He was an area resident since 1964, owning and operating H.B. Yoder Excavating, and a member of Salem Mennonite Church, New Paris. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 funeral at Salem Mennonite Church. Pastors Paul Newcomer, Terrill Yoder, and Jerry Helmuth will officiate. Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salem Mennonite Church Missionary Fund.
