Helen Jean (Kandel) Yoder went home to be with Jesus on Friday, August 30, 2024. She was 95 years old.
Helen was born September 28, 1928 in Millersburg, Ohio to Abe and Amanda (Miller) Kandel. She graduated from Berlin High School, Berlin, Ohio in 1947 and went on to attend Goshen College, Goshen, IN.
On June 23, 1950 she married Aden J. Yoder in Millersburg, Ohio. She was a homemaker and faithful helpmate to her husband as he pastored churches in Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. They celebrated 72 years of marriage prior to his death April 4, 2023.
Helen enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Bible School and even Pre-school at Sonshine Daycare when she was 70 years old. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, crocheting, and gardening. She worked in food service at Greencroft for several years, was a 4-H advisor and enjoyed the company of her grandchildren whenever possible. Her family will remember many delicious meals around her table.
She is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Art Neuenschwander), of Orville, Ohio; son, Steve (Randa Moyer Hendricks) of Harrisonburg, Virginia; daughter, Twila (Dean Eshleman) of Middlebury, Indiana; and son, Tim (Jane Grove), of Goshen, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Yoder, of Millersburg, Ohio.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Weaver, Apple Creek, Ohio, and brothers, Olen of Fisher, Illinois and Eli of Berlin, Ohio.
Visitation will be Friday, September 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 C.R. 35, Goshen.
An 11 a.m. memorial service will be held Saturday, September 14, also at the church. Her grandson Matt Yoder will officiate.
Private burial will take place prior to the memorial service at Clinton Frame Cemetery.
