Helen Louise Walter

Helen L. Walter, 100, of Union, Michigan, left her earthly home to go to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, early Wednesday morning, July 11, 2012. She was born in Goshen March 4, 1912 to the late Roy and Ina (Landaw) Carter. She married Brice R. Walter February 4, 1933 in Elwood. He preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (James) Howard of Vandalia, Michigan; a son, James William (Betty) Walter of Union, Michigan; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marlene (Lowell) Defrees of Goshen. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel Lantzer, Mary Jane Miller, Elnora Bontrager and Evelyn Miller. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Walter attended Meadowood Free Methodist Church, Elkhart. Friends may call from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, July 16, 2012, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Timothy Yoder will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
