Helen Marie Sherman

Helen Marie Sherman, 89, of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, April 23, 2006, at her residence.   She was born December 10, 1916, in Goshen, to Guy and Nellie (Huff) Rieth.  On September 24, 1939, in Goshen, she married Harold R. Sherman.  He died April 16, 1992.   A 1934 Concord High School graduate, Mrs. Sherman, was a lifelong active member of the First United Church of Christ where she was involved with the Women’s Guild.   A homemaker, she also worked at Maley’s Dime Store and co-owned and operated home and apartment rentals and a furniture store with her husband.   Mrs. Sherman is survived by two sons, Robert (Sandra) Sherman of Goshen and Douglas (Connie) Sherman of Millersburg; a daughter-in-law, Linda Sherman; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is a sister, Jane Richwine of Richmond, Indiana and a brother, Carl Maxwell Rieth of Goshen.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; two sisters, Muriel Saylor and Lois Baer; and two brothers, Robert and Guy, Jr. Rieth.   Friends may call 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   A 3:00 p.m. funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 25, 2006.  Rev. Carl Adams of the First United Church of Christ will officiate.   Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ or to Care at Home Hospice.
