Helen "Becky" Prough 90, of Goshen died Sunday evening at IU Health Goshen Hospital where she had recently been admitted. She was born June 17, 1922 in Cumberland, Md., to Walter and Pearl (Hayes) Garlick. On Feb. 25, 1953 she married Harvey F. Prough in Angola. He died in Jan. of 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Yoder, of Goshen, and Tanya (Monte) Holdeman, of Wakarusa; two sons, Charles L. (Judy) Reed, and Terry L. (Penny) Reed, both of Goshen; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Stephen B. Sayles; two sisters, Almeda Swickard, and Lois Hershberger; and a brother, Lester Garlick. Becky was a longtime area resident and homemaker. She worked at various jobs including; the General Times watch shop, and Wakarusa Elementary School. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary; Spirit of Faith Fellowship; and the Pony Express, where she enjoyed showing horses and going on trail rides. She also enjoyed fishing and time with family. Friends may call 2 to 4, and 6 to 8 pm Friday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 9:00 a.m. Saturday funeral will be held at the funeral home with Pastor Carl Adams of Spirit of Faith Fellowship officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Violett cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Spirit of Faith Fellowship, American Heart Assoc., or the American Cancer Society.
