Helen F. Berkey Helen F. Berkey, 90, of Goshen, died Thursday evening, March 23, 2006, at Americare of Goshen. She was born May 28, 1915, in Goshen, Indiana, to Perry and Mattie (Stouder) Cripe. She married Harold Berkey on August 7, 1938, in Goshen. Mrs. Berkey was a lifelong resident of Goshen who also wintered in Sebring, Florida for 20 years. She was a member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren, graduated from Goshen High School in 1933 and attended Manchester College. After graduation she was a private secretary at City Light & Water and cooked in the cafeteria at Towncrest Junior High, retiring in 1977. Mrs. Berkey was also a member of the Women’s Club of Goshen, Airstream Club, and Elkhart County Farm Bureau, Inc. She is survived by three daughters, Diane (Phil) Self, of Goshen, Rhonda Federonick of Goshen, and Gail (Beng) Ong of Leo, Indiana; three sons, Philip (Barbara) Berkey of Goshen, Gary (Leticia) Berkey of Goodyear, Arizona, and Donald Berkey of Gadsden Alabama. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; three sisters, Ethel Cripe, Catherine Cripe, and Pauline Cripe Grise; and four brothers, Russel, Ora, Pierre, and Harry Cripe. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2006, service will be held at West Goshen Church of the Brethren. Burial will be at West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to West Goshen Church of the Brethren or Heifer Project International.
