Hazel C. Hostetler, 90, of Goshen, died Tuesday evening, June 12, 2007, at The Maples. She was born in Kenmare, North Dakota, on February 16, 1917, to William R. and Elma (Harris) Kauffman. She married Payson A. Hostetler on August 8, 1943, in LaGrange County. He died April 18, 2007. A Goshen resident since 1981, Mrs. Hostetler, worked at Fan Coach in LaGrange in the drapery room. She moved to the Northern Indiana area in 1938. She was a member of Forks Mennonite Church and had served as a primary Sunday School teacher at both the Emma Mennonite Church and the Forks Mennonite Church. She was involved in the church’s Women’s Sewing Circle making quilts. In her retirement she made and donated quilts to relief agencies and church related institutions. She is survived by two daughters, Ruby (Tim) Brower of Columbia City, and Lila (Keith) Fox of Goshen; a son, Lowell (Carolyn) Hostetler of LaGrange; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Iva Merrifield of LaGrange and Lois Franz of Mount Pleasant, Michigan; and a brother, Frank (Evelyn) Kauffman of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Payson; two infant sons, Dennis and Danny Hostetler; a sister, Elsie Zook; and four brothers, Marvin, LeRoy, Floyd and Melvin Dean Kauffman. Friends will be received 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 15 at the funeral home and from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m., Saturday at the Forks Mennonite Church. A 9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at the Forks Mennonite Church. Pastor Eldon Stoltzfus will officiate. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorial contributions may be given to Bethany Christian Schools.
