Hazel F. Darnell, 86, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at her home Tuesday afternoon, May 15, 2012. She was born March 16, 1926 in Saltville, Virginia, to Gibson and Mae (Bise) McNew. She married Wyndhamm Darnell Jr. September 18, 1944, in Bristol, Tennessee. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Kelley and Barbara Darnell, both of Goshen; a son, Jack (Dorothy) Darnell of South Bend; four grandchildren, Stacie Bobeck, Mark Darnell, Stephanie Baer and Jamey Shidler; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Warren McNew of Dublin, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Goshen resident since 1961, Mrs. Darnell was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Goshen. During World War II Mrs. Darnell worked in a shell loading plant in Marion, Virginia. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 17, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Jason Kincaid will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
