Harold A. Schrock, 97, of Syracuse, passed away at his home Saturday morning, May 12, 2012. He was born April 10, 1915 in Goshen to the late Arthur E. and Anna (Shaner) Schrock. He married Thelma A. Hostetler September 3, 1938. She died January 28, 1995. On May 24, 1996 he married Betty Corn McDonald. She died September 14, 1997. He then married Donna Schwalm Kercher July 10, 1998 in Vero Beach, Florida. She survives. He is survived by three daughters, Sara (William) Barrett, Sr. of Rumson, New Jersey, Susan (John) Graff of Harbor Springs, Michigan, and Cinda McKinney of Westfield, Massachusetts.; a son, H. Douglas (Jeannine) Schrock of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; step-children, David (Maxine) Kercher of Alameda, California, Mark (Denny) Kercher of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Craig (Toni) Kercher of San Antonio, Texas; and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bradley K. Schrock in 1980; a grandson, Nathaniel McKinney in 1986; and two sisters, Isabelle Chapman and Helen Hetler. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Schrock graduated from Goshen High School in 1933 and Goshen College in 1937. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Goshen; and a charter member of both Maplecrest Country Club and Elcona Country Club. A Goshen businessman, he owned and operated Starcraft, Smoker-Craft, Sylvan Boat, Goshen Sash and Door, Earthway Products Inc., Ivy Terrace and Goshen Iron and Metal. He was a past president of the Goshen Rotary Club, a past president of the First National Bank, Goshen board, and a past president of the Goshen Hospital Board. He had served on the Goshen Hospital and Health Care Foundation Board and the Goshen Public Library Board. He was a generous donor to many local organizations. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, funeral service will be conducted at First English Lutheran Church, Goshen. Pastor Gene Hollingsworth will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Thelma A. Schrock Homestead at Greencroft Healthcare in support of scholarships.
