Harold L. Bontreger

Harold L. Bontreger, 96, of Goshen died Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Laurels of Goshen.

He was born December 30, 1926 in Goshen to Levi E. and Fannie Mae (Kauffman) Bontreger.

On March 6, 1949 he married Anna Belle Nelson. She died August 10, 2014. He later married Lois (Whitehead) Kaufman. She died July 30, 2021.

He is survived by a son, Tim (Laurie) Bontreger of Goshen; daughter in law, Becky Bontreger of Middlebury; five grandchildren, Tori (Brad) Blosser, Amy Stutzman, Jamie (Naomi) Cross, Kristian (Shana) Bontreger, and Michael (Bridgett) Cross; nine great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and a brother, Thomas Bontreger of Middlebury.

Also surviving are two step-children, Gail (Kevin) Brumbaugh, Wakarusa, and Donald (Kris) Kaufman, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Along with his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Kent Bontreger; two sisters, Mary K. Miller and Ann Bahr; and a step-son Charles Kaufman.

Mr. Bontreger was co-owner of Middlebury Produce. Harold was an active and long-time member of Clinton Frame Church. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting places around the world.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 C.R. 35, Goshen, IN 46528.

A 10 a.m. memorial service will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 at Clinton Frame Church. Pastor Ken Bontreger and Rev. Timothy Yoder will officiate.

Private burial will take place in Clinton Frame Cemetery.
