Harley S. Hostetler, 80, of Goshen died Saturday afternoon, August 29, 2009, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. He had been ill since late January. He was born in Goshen on October 6, 1928, to Sam G. and Mattie (Hershberger) Hostetler. He married Louise Phillips on April 29, 1950 at the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2008. A lifelong Goshen resident, Mr. Hostetler worked in maintenance at Goshen Milk, Starcraft and retired from Smoker-Craft. Following retirement he delivered vans, worked for Goshen Floral and was a courier for Interra Credit Union. He was a member of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren and volunteered with CAPS. In earlier years he played fast pitch softball for many years as a catcher, and recently he enjoyed the activated that were offered at Waterford Crossing. He is survived by two daughters, Marsha (Doug) Lamb and Lynn (Bill) Nisley, both of Goshen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Culp of Goshen and three brothers, Jake Hostetler of Bradenton, Florida, Sam Hostetler of Goshen and LeRoy (Carolyn) Hostetler of Middlebury. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; two sisters, Mary and Katie Hostetler and four brothers, John, Monroe, Bill and Dan Hostetler. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Norm Replogle of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren and family friend, Tim Yoder will officiate. Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to West Goshen Church of the Brethren or CAPS.
