H Irene Gibson

H. Irene Gibson, 100, of Goshen, died late Friday afternoon, March 28, 2008, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born September 29, 1907 in Millersburg, Indiana, to John and Anna (Baker) Bowman.  She married Roy Pittman on March 17, 1923 in Cassopolis, Michigan.  He died November 15, 1947.  She then married Orlie Gibson on January 29, 1949.  He preceded her on February 1, 1979. A homemaker, Mrs. Gibson lived in Goshen her entire life except for the 20 years she lived in Haines City, Florida.  She worked at Western Rubber, Mogul Rubber and Ganger’s Grill.  She was a member of the Jefferson Brethren Church. She is survived by a daughter, Norma Ganger of Goshen; a son, Dean (Roberta) Pittman of Syracuse; two step-daughters, Geraldine (Sheldon) McClain of Syracuse and Eileen (Leon) Nichaus of Pierceton, Indiana; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and a sister, Dora Monschein Aust of Goshen. She was preceded in death by both her husbands; a daughter, Annabell Taylor Culbert; two grandsons, Lynn Pittman and Gary Taylor; five brothers, Clarence, Guy, Fred, LaMar and Warren Bowman; and a sister, Marie Dresch. Friends may call 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 1 at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor John Randolph of the People’s Bible Church in Benton will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Greencroft Foundation or Donor’s Choice.
