Gwendolyn Grace Rogers

Gwendolyn Grace Rogers, 84, formerly of Mayflower Place, Goshen, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare.  She had been in failing health since April 2008. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, November 6, 1925, to William E. and Thyra Pauline (Miller) Stephens.  She married Roy Rogers, Jr. December 7, 1946 in Elkhart.  He died November 29, 2001. A graduate of Elkhart High School, Mrs. Rogers worked as a receptionist for Fairhaven Physicians for 21 years.  She was a member of Gray Ladies; Lady Elks; Civil Defense Corp; Delta Chi Sigma Sorority where she had served as president; and the American Association of Medical Assistants where she had served as president of the Elkhart County chapter.  She was a homemaker and loved her Thursday Bridge Club. She is survived by twin sons, Jeffrey Rogers of Goshen and Jerome (Ingrid Hall) Rogers of Ottawa, Canada; four grandchildren, Tim, Stacy (Tony), Daryn and Koby; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret A. (Donald) Mitchell of Elkhart; five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Rogers in 1958 and a sister, Marilyn M. Lombard. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 11, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A private family service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, June 11, 2010. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Pet Refuge.
