Goldie M. Strahm

Goldie M. Strahm, 83, of Goshen, died Sunday afternoon, October 31, 2010, at the home of her daughter-in-law.  She had been in failing health the past four years. She was born in Syracuse on June 12, 1927 to the late Charles W. and Edith (Miller) Clark.  She married Carl C. Strahm on February 13, 1949 in Goshen.  He died June 11, 2007. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sherri Strahm of Goshen; a granddaughter, Sherrie Strahm of Indianapolis; and six sisters, Mary Householder of Long Beach, California, Catherine Lakes of Charlestown, Letah Loy of Goshen, Grace (Hollis) Steele of Bristol, Ruby (Fred, Jr.) Rink of Millersburg, and Lena (Donald) Stiver of New Paris. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Strahm on July 11, 2010; a grandson, David Strahm on August 22, 2004; five brothers, Clifford, John, Glenn and Rayburn Clark and Carl Lehman; and two sisters, Clara Leer and Bernice Baumgardner. Mrs. Strahm attended New Paris High School and graduated from Wayne University School of Cosmetology in Fort Wayne.  She owned and operated The Beauty Bar in Goshen from 1946 to 1990. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen.  She bowled in the Wednesday morning coffee league and the Wednesday evening commercial league. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A 10 a.m., Thursday, November 4, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen, with Pastor John Hickey officiating. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.
