Glendon W. Tudor

Glendon W. Tudor, 91, of Warsaw died Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Paddock Springs Healthcare.

He was born immediately after his twin brother, Glenn E., on June 4, 1929 in Indianapolis to Glenn L. and Dorothy (Parks) Tudor.

The family lived in Trafalger, later moving to Martinsville.  Glendon was a Boy Scout, attaining the rank of Life Scout. He learned how to fly a single engine airplane, before he obtained an automotive driver’s license. He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1947.

The family later moved to Elkhart.  Glendon attended Purdue University for one year. He transferred to a business school in Elkhart, where he earned a degree in accounting. Notably, Glendon was able to pass a CPA examination at the age of 19. He was not able to be licensed at that point, due to a minimum age requirement. He retested at a later time, and obtained his CPA license. Glendon worked as an IRS field agent, from 1950 to 1951.

Glendon enlisted in the US Army in 1951, and served until 1954. He attained the rank of Sergeant.

On March 28, 1953 he married Betty Ann Fink in Elkhart.

Survivors include three sons, Mark Tudor of Elkhart, Jack (Cindy) Tudor of Milford and Paul (Ana Herrera) Tudor of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and a sister, Judy Ford of Cardiff by the Sea, California.

Along with his parents and wife, Betty Ann, he was preceded in death by a son, James and twin brother, Glenn.

Glendon and Betty moved to Goshen in 1962, where they finished raising their family.

In addition to his various positions of employment, Glendon was a lifelong member of the Disciples of Christ denomination of the Christian church. He was not only a faithful member of the local DoC churches in Martinsville and Elkhart, but he served on and donated an extensive amount of time to the finance committee of the state Disciples of Christ board, in Indianapolis. He made countless trips from Goshen to Indianapolis, during his years of living in Goshen.

Meanwhile, in his professional life, Glendon served on the ethics committee for the Indiana state CPA association. He chaired the ethics committee for several years. He was also a member of Rotary International for many years.

Later in life, Glendon and Betty moved to California for a period of about 15 years. Glendon was again active in the Disciples of Christ church in that region, serving as treasurer of the Southern California – Southern Nevada DoC board, and chairman of the finance committee. Separately, he served with the Disciples Seminary Foundation.

Glendon had a reputation for being trustworthy, faithful, and diligent in every task, and every job that he took on. This opened several opportunities for him during his long career as a CPA.

While in Goshen, Glendon was a Vice President at Starcraft Corporation. He was later a partner in two local CPA companies; Chiddister & Tudor, and Stauffer & Co.

After moving to Claremont, California, he was the financial controller at the School of Theology at Claremont, where he worked until “retirement”. After retiring from the School, Glendon continued working in his private CPA practice.

After about 15 years in Claremont, Glendon and Betty moved back to Indiana, and lived in Milford. Glendon continued with his private CPA practice until he actually retired in 2016.

As in his professional career, Glendon was trustworthy, faithful, and diligent in his marriage to Betty, and for his sons. Against all odds, in a medical sense, Glendon was here for Betty, for the rest of her life. She passed away on March 15, 2021. With his last and most important mission in this life completed, Glendon has now rejoined the love of his life, Betty.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 24, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at Central Christian Church, 418 W. Franklin St., Elkhart, Indiana 46516. Rev. Dr. Douglas Cripe will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
