Glen S. Showalter, 87, of Goshen, died Tuesday, October 12, 2021, after a brief illness.
He was born October 20, 1933, in Elkhart County to Noble and Edna (Kauffman) Showalter.
He was married for 69 years to RoseAnn Troyer.
She survives along with three sons, Mike K. Showalter of Syracuse, Bruce A. (Shelly) Showalter of Millersburg and Steve G. (Sheila) Showalter of Goshen; a sister, Esther Deal of Goshen; six grandchildren, Matt (Tammy) Showalter, Brad (Rebecca) Showalter, Karmen (Tyler) Rensberger, Darby (Sarah) Showalter, Bailey (Camden) Bontrager and Kegan Showalter; eight great-grandchildren, Jackson Showalter, Bo and Indy Showalter, Sadie and Cooper Rensberger, Murphie Bontrager, Amanda (Carlos) Torres and Abby Yoder; and a great-great-grandson, Kai Torres.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers, Vesta Stroman and Charlene Christophel, Jay, Stahly, Dale and Gerald Showalter.
A 1951 Millersburg High School graduate and member of Peoples Bible Church, Glen was a farmer for nearly 70 years, raising beef cattle. He was involved and contributed his time and knowledge in different organizations in the community; he was a 50-year member of the Millersburg Lions Club; Kosciusko and Elkhart County Cattleman’s Association; FFA Advisory Board; Elkhart County Drainage Board; FSA County Committee; member of the Fairfield School Board, and a volunteer fireman at Benton Township Fire department. He was an avid softball player, he enjoyed Fairfield High School activities, IU Basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was the best Grandpa ever, loved by all.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and Tuesday, October 19, from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service at Peoples Bible Church, Benton. Pastor John Randolph will officiate.
Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to Millersburg Lions Club.
