Gladys Swihart

Gladys Swihart, 86, of Goshen, died Saturday morning, July 5, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital. She was born in Goshen on September 16, 1921, to Oscar and Chloe (Dillman) Sailor. She married Galen V. Swihart on June 15, 1941.  He preceded her in death on August 30, 1988. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mrs. Swihart was a member of First Brethren Church, Goshen where she was a member of the Senior Saints.  Mrs. Swihart attended Wakarusa High School and volunteered for 35 years in the Gift Shop at Goshen General Hospital. She owned and operated the G & g Grocery from 1951 to 1964 and then owned and managed apartment house rentals from 1965 to 1985. She is survived by a sister, Ruth Keyser of Plymouth, and a brother, Otis (Elizabeth) Sailor of Noblesville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen; and a sister, Bernice Miller in 1994. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 7 at the funeral home. An 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor John Drexler of First Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Brethren Church, Goshen.
