Gladys Virginia "Joy" Blanton, 87, of Elkhart, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 11, 2015 at the home of her son. She was born March 15, 1927 in Elkhart Township, west of Waterford to Albert Wilson and Nellie Maude (Leazenby) Stahly. On June 1, 1970 she married Dorsey Blanton. He died February 15, 1978. She is survived by four children, Connie Rich of Mission, Texas, Sandra Stump of Goshen, Timmie Coyle of the Philippines and Randy Coyle of Elkhart; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Bertha Fissgus, three brothers, Willard, Harry and Warren Stahly and a son-in-law, Robert Rich. A lifelong area resident, Joy worked at Monsanto in Ligonier for 23 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Women of the Moose, Goshen Chapter #1047 and Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. #985. She enjoyed mushroom hunting. Friends may call Friday, February 13, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015,funeral service will be conducted. Chaplain Neil Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
