Gladys E. Buller, 91, of Goshen died Tuesday, May 24, 2016at Courtyard Healthcare.
She was born September 27, 1924 in Saskatchewan, Canada, to Jacob P. and Elizabeth (Fast) Klassen.
On June 24, 1949 she married Peter W. Buller in Minnesota. He died August 28, 2009.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette (Nathan) Slater of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons, James P. (Patti) Buller and Charles P. (Tracy) Buller, both of Goshen; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two siblings, Alvera Remple and Orlando Klassen.
Mr. and Mrs. Buller spent 37 years teaching and doing pastoral training in the Democratic Republic of The Congo. She was a member of Silverwood Mennonite Church where at one time she served as minister of education. She enjoyed serving the elderly needing assistance and she had an artistic flair, creating a cottage industry to help Congolese women increase their income through art projects.
Besides serving in many ways alongside Peter, after retirement she continued to volunteer her time at Goshen General Hospital. In their retirement years Peter & Gladys undertook several short-term mission assignments here in the U.S., back in Congo, and in Haiti. Gladys loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed inviting friends over for an evening of fun.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Silverwood Mennonite Church where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Pastor Jeremy Shue will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to AIMM for pastoral training in The Congo.
Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
