Gladys Graber Beyler, 91, of Goshen, passed away early Saturday morning, October 24, 2015, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born May 30, 1924 in Goshen to C.L. and Mina (Roth) Graber. On February 1, 1947 she married Clayton V. Beyler of Protection, Kansas, in Goshen. He died October 13, 1973. Mrs. Beyler is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy" (David Kuebrich) Beyler of Fairfax, Virginia, Mary L. Beyler of Hokkaido, Japan, Ruth (Paul) Conrad of Millersburg, Ohio and Carolyn "Jean" Beyler of Hyattsville, Maryland; two sons, John (Karen) Beyler of Chappaqua, New York and Richard (Jennifer) Beyler of Portland, Oregon; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Areta Lehman and Lucille Swartzendruber, both of Goshen, and Lois (Byron) Bender of Honolulu, Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Mildred Stoltzfus and a brother, Richard D. Graber. A member of College Mennonite Church, Mrs. Beyeler graduated from Goshen College with degrees in both biology and Bible. She later received a nursing degree from Hesston College. Gladys and her husband prepared for mission work in China at Yale but when they were unable to go, Clayton was called to teach at Hesston College. In keeping with Mrs. Beyler's wishes, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Friends may call Sunday, November 15, 2015, from 2 to 3 p.m. at College Mennonite Church where a memorial service will be conducted at 3:30. Memorial contributions may be given to Mennonite Mission Network.
