Gerald Wesley VanHooser, 76, of Milford, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at Majestic Care, Goshen.
He was born May 16, 1945, in Buffalo, New York to George Harold and Esther (Summersgill) VanHooser.
On November 15, 1968, he married Sherry Rutter in Charleston, South Carolina.
She survives along with a son, Brant (Angelia) VanHooser of Goshen; four grandchildren, Brityna, Wesley, Meggy and Jamys; a sister, Elaine (Phillip) Vine of Crossville, Tennessee; a brother, David (Susan) VanHooser of Hamburg, New York and a sister-in-law, Dottie VanHooser of Ankeny, Iowa
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Irving VanHooser.
Rev. VanHooser was ordained by the Baptist Church in 1976 and served as a pastor for 43 years. He was an ACBC certified biblical counselor. Rev. VanHooser served as a board member of BMM – Baptist Mid-Missions and EBI – Editorial Bautista Independiente. He also owned and operated VAN’s Construction company and was a skilled woodworker and builder.
Visitation will be Monday, May 9, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Goshen, where a 1 p.m. funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 10. Rev. Matt Reno of Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, will officiate.
Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery.
