Gerald E. Shank, 83, of Goshen, died in the emergency room at Fort Loudoun Medical Center, Lenoir City, Tennessee, on Sunday, October 28, 2007. He was born in LaGrange County, on January 1, 1924, to Willis and Lena (Prough) Shank. He married Doris Wortinger in Goshen on March 19, 1963. She survives. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Shank was owner and vice president of sales for Homecrest Corporation. He retired in 1988. He formerly worked for IXL in Goshen. Mr. Shank served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and was part of the Normandy invasion. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen; Maplecrest Country Club in Goshen and Lake Fairways Country Club in North Fort Myers, where the Shanks had wintered since 1988. He is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons, Jerry Lee Shank of Goshen, Jeffery Lynn (Anita) Shank of Lady Lake, Florida, and Michael Carlyle (Ruth) Shank of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Shank of Goshen; and a sister, Eileen Adams of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Shank. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 5, at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2007, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Alan Griffin of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen with a military graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or Donor’s Choice.
