Gerald “Jerry” Dunafin, 83, of Goshen, died Thursday morning, December 6, 2007, at Greencroft Healthcare. He was born December 6, 1924, in Elkhart, to Chauncey Earl and Ruth Lucille (Luttman) Dunafin. He married Helen M. Lantz on October 28, 1945 inElkhart. She died September 23, 2003. He then married Isabelle Rogers in Goshen on October 9, 2004. She survives. A lifetime resident of the area, Mr. Dunafin was a salesman at Moore Buisiness Forms. He retired from Elkhart Foam Products. A 1943 graudate of Elkhart High School, he attended Manchester College and served with the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren and a former member of Elkhart Rotary and Elkhart City Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Deckard of Vicksburg, Michigan; a son, Stephen (Jacqueline) Dunafin of Goshen; two step-daughters, Marietta (Wayne) Snapp of Plano, Texas and Connie Samuels of South Bend; a step-son, Richard (Cindy) Rogers of Nappanee; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith “Marcele” Phelps of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his first wife; a brother, Charles Dunafin; a sister, Clara Berry; a half-brother, Max W. Rice and a great-grandson, Aaron Deckard. Friends will be received 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, December 10 at the funeral home. A 3:00 p.m., funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Monday, December 10, 2007. Pamela Kling, Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church and Dee Swartz, Greencroft Chaplain will officiate. After the funeral the body will be cremated and a private burial will be held in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Greencroft Foundation or Care at Home Hospice.
