George E. Thomas

George E. Thomas, 83, of Bristol, passed away early Sunday morning, June 7, 2015 at his home after a short illness. He was born February 14, 1932 in O'Brien, Florida to Allen and Bertha (Stanford) Thomas. On June 4, 1971 he married Janet I. Warstler in Middlebury. She died April 22, 2011. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie (Randy) Dillon of Bristol; two sons, Allen (Lois) Thomas of St. Joseph, Michigan and Gene Thomas of Dunlap, Tennessee; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Veta Mae Whorton, Brooksville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; a sister, Lillian McKinney; and four brothers, Allen, James, Loren and Charles Thomas. An area resident since 1955, George served with the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen, where he was active with his Sunday school class. He worked as a supervisor for CCA, Container Corporation of America. Friends may call Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at 10 a.m. at West Goshen Cemetery for a graveside service. Memorial contributions may be given to Center for Hospice, Elkhart.
