George W. Lockard, Sr.

George W. Lockard, Sr., 78 of Goshen died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Courtyard Healthcare.

He was born August 17, 1940 in Lafayette to Melvin and Ruth (Terhune) Lockard.

In 2001 he married Brenda Harrison.

Survivors include a son, George W. Lockard, Jr. of Indianapolis; his wife, Brenda of Goshen and her children, Teresa Williams of Goshen, Darrell Branum of Calhoun, Georgia, Billy Joe Branum and Willie Branum, both of North Vernon; and 23 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents; step-father, Raymond Kincaid; sisters, Betty Goshern and Patsy Coy; and brothers, Donnie, Jerry and Bob Lockard.

A U.S. Army veteran, George was stationed with the 82 ^nd Airborne during the Vietnam and Korea eras, receiving a Purple Heart for his service.  He was a commander of the North Vernon V.F.W. Post 2021 and owned and operated his own barbershop.

He continued to serve his country even after leaving the military, and stayed active in the AMVETS and V.F.W. organizations.

According to his wishes, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
