George R. Juday, 90, of Goshen, passed away Tuesday, April 14, at Courtyard Healthcare where he had been the last three weeks. George was born August 18, 1924, in Goshen to Albert and Cecil Irene Juday. On April 3, 1943 he married Opal Greenawalt. George and Opal enjoyed 72 special years together. She survives along with four children, Floyd (Mary) Juday of Venice, Florida, Rodney (Sharon) Juday of White Pigeon, Michigan, Rita (Dick) Stutsman of Three Rivers, Michigan and Sonja (Ken) Airgood of Marshall, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Mike and Nick Juday, Amy Barnes and Ryan Juday; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma West of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings, Kenneth, Leonard, Robert, Leona, Irene, Florence, Helen, Commodore, Betty, Ruby, Gladys, and Hattie Belle. A veteran of the US Army during World War II, George loved his country and served it honorably. He was awarded both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., D.A.V., the American Legion, and the 42nd Rainbow Division. An avid golfer, he was a member of Maplecrest Country Club for 49 years. As well as being a farmer, George worked for 25 years at Skyline where he became the division manager. Friends may call Thursday, April 16, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, April 17, 2015, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Yoder will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
