George M. "Jerry" Haas, 61, of Millersburg, died Thursday afternoon, July 30, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in South Bend on February 6, 1948, to George R. Haas and the late Elva B. (Bloomstrand) Haas. He married Susan Johnston on March 24, 1991 in Elkhart. She survives. A member of Goshen Christian Church, Mr. Haas graduated from Elkhart High School in 1966. He worked for Forest River in the parts department. He had worked for over 20 years at I.W.C. Stow-Davis in New Paris. He enjoyed drag racing and watching NASCAR. Mr. Haas is survived by his wife, Susan; his father, George; four daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Jefferson of Bristol, Jade (Rob) Akemon of Elkhart, Amanda Haas of Fort Worth, Texas, and Megan Haas of Constantine, Michigan; two sons, Christopher Haas of Elkhart and Jonathan (Julie) Haas of Greeley, Colorado; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother; a daughter, Michelle Haas; and a son, Geoffrey Clay Haas. Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 2, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Kim Huffman of Goshen Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Christian Church.
