Genevine Klase, 83, died Sunday night, August 29, 2010 at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. She had been in failing health since November 2009. She was born August 6, 1927 in Kosciusko County, Indiana, to Welby C. and Anna Mae (Drught) Kurtz. She married Glen L. Greenwalt June 28, 1946. He died July 5, 1963. She then married Dale W. Klase on November 25, 1966 in Elkhart. He died February 26, 2002. She is survived by four daughters, Connie (Walter) Crofutt of Shipshewana, Rebecca (Jeff) Meade and Karen (Dave) Slagel, both of Goshen and Candace Klase of Aurora, Oregon; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nora Goss of Wakarusa; and two brothers, Delbert (Sue) Kurtz of Goshen, and LeRoy (Kate) Kurtz of Middlebury. She was preceded in death by a son, Ron Greenwalt on October 25, 2008; and three sisters, Erma Searls, Marie Wagner and Dorothy Spicher. A lifetime resident of the Shipshewana, Bristol and Middlebury area, Mrs. Klase moved to Goshen in 2003. She enjoyed reading, especially mystery novels; and watching suspenseful movies with her grandchildren. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, at the funeral home. A 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Chaplain Velma Swartz officiating. Burian will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
