Gary M. Showalter, 73, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, Friday, November 20, 2020, at home.

He was born in Goshen on February 26, 1947 to Daniel and Helen Marie (Kehr) Showalter.

On January 24, 1970 he married Mary Bishop in Goshen.

She survives along with two children, Jeff (Angie) Showalter and Angie (Chad) Pletcher, both of Goshen; four grandchildren, Carly Pletcher, McKenzie (Bryce) Hurtekant, Zachary and Jacob Showalter; and two siblings, Burton Showalter of Goshen and Julie (David) Haab of New Paris.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Dave Showalter and sister-in-law, Sherry Showalter.

Gary graduated from New Paris High School.  He worked at Fidler’s for 37 years driving truck with no accidents.  He attended First Baptist Church of Elkhart where he was born again October 2, 2005.  After retirement he mowed for Fireside Homes.

Everyone loved hearing Gary sing.  He enjoyed singing karaoke, fishing, hunting, shooting his gun, cooking on the grill for family, spending time with his children, grandchildren and many friends, living at the lake and traveling.

He touched a lot of people with his humor and friendly personality.  He always wanted to make people smile and feel good and would go out of his way to help friends and family. He was a great story teller like his dad.

A private memorial service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor John Blodgett will officiate.   Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.

Memorial donations may be given to American Heart Association.
