Gary E. Higginbotham, 55, died early Sunday morning, September 19, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital. He had been ill since Thursday evening. He was born in North Olmsted, Ohio, on March 5, 1955, to the late Hubert and Virginia (Goble) Higginbotham. He married Sharon Fox on May 9, 1990 in Elkhart. She survives. Also surviving are three children: Amy (Michael) Craw of Goshen, Jennifer Higginbotham and Jason Higginbotham, both of Elkhart; three step-children, Carl (Rita) Briggs, Ron (Tracey) Briggs, and Shelley (Dale) Deisinger, all of Elkhart; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Westly “Wes” (Karen) Higginbotham of Goshen; and two sisters, Sandy (Maynard) Wallace of La Follete, Tennessee, and Judy Huffman of Hometown, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Higginbotham. A 1973 graduate of Goshen High School, he played football all four years. He worked for Workflowone, formerly Duplex, for 20 years. He also worked 11 years for Penguin Point. He enjoyed playing tennis, dancing to oldies music, and classic cars. He served with the US Air Force and the reserves as a military policeman at Grissom Air Force Base. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 21, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2010, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Jane Buller of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to the family.
