Garldine "Jeri" M. Kline

Garldine “Jeri” M. Kline, 97, died Monday, Jan. 1 at Avalon Village, Ligonier, where she was admitted in October.

She was born June 30, 1920 in Elkhart County to Ora J. and Macy Jane (McKibbin) Weister.

On April 27, 1941 she married Maurice Kline in Middlebury.  He died in 1999.

Survivors include five children, Ronda (Randy) Stabler, Elkhart, Sharon Schlabach, Goshen, Sandra Trenshaw, Goshen, Ronald Kline, Edwardsburg, Michigan and Maurice (Dawn) Kline, Goshen; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, with the youngest being named Macy Jane after Jeri’s mother.

Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Joseph Schlabach in 2009 and two sisters, Vera Miller and Wilma Schermerhorn.

A graduate of Millersburg High School, Jeri was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.  She could sit by her window looking at her beautiful flower gardens and watching birds with her faithful dog, Lacy at her side.  She also enjoyed traveling to Kauai of the Hawaiian Islands, her favorite destination.

Friends may call Sunday, Jan. 7 from 2 to 4 and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Monday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor John Hickey will officiate.

Burial will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.

Memorials may be given to Elkhart County Humane Society or American Diabetes Association.
