Gail Lynn Flickner Jantzen

Gail Lynn Flickner Jantzen, 42, of Elkhart died of complications from chemotherapy treatments for Hodgkins Lymphoma at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010. She had been a patient at Triumph Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Mishawaka since July 21 of this year. Gail was born November 27, 1967 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, to Robert S. and Eleanor M. Flickner. She was a graduate of Warren Area High School in Warren, Pennsylvania, and earned her B.S. from Indiana University of Indiana, Pennsylvania. She was employed by the State of Indiana as an adoption case manager for the Department of Child Services. It gave Gail much joy to successfully assist in bringing a family together through adoption. She was a dedicated and diligent worker for children. Gail married Eric Jantzen on July 20, 1996. They have two children at home, Gabriella Marie and Ian Henry. Gail was a “Soccer Mom” extraordinaire and she loved going to watch the children play and Eric coach. She is survived by her husband and children; mother, Eleanor Hooker and step-father, Don Hooker of Leesburg; a brother, Jeff (Diana) Flickner of  Warren, Pennsylvania; her maternal grandmother, Rosemary Daidone of Hampstead, North Carolina.; and many other family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Flickner, a son Evan Robert Jantzen, and her grandparents, Vincent Schneider, Olan Flickner, Violet Neidel, Peg Flickner and Bonnie Flickner. Gail’s family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen, where Gail was a longtime member. Father Christopher Smith will officiate.  Casket Bearers will be Jeffrey Flickner, Robert Flickner, Michael Flickner, Dan Blackford, Logan Blackford, and Dean Jantzen. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House at Memorial Hospital in South Bend because of the help they provided when Ian was born; the Dunlap Lions Club; and the Chaplain Services at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
